Learning to love life

The title says it all really, I find it funny shocking that it takes such devastating news or turn of events to make people really sit up and take a hard look at what they are doing with their lives and if they are using what precious time we have here to actually cherish each and every day.

I have two children & to me they are my world, so when I hear from friends, that one of their children has tragically passed away it absolutely rocks my core. It is devastating, not only because I can imagine how heart breaking that actually must be but because they are so little, they have seen so little, they have done so little - yet here I am (almost) 32 years old and I readily admit I take advantage of the fact that I am alive, well, intelligent & happy.

So today, I made a promise to myself, I am going to learn to actually love and live my life. Sounds simple doesn't it? It's not. It is so easy to fall into a rut, to live day in and day out just following a routine, a process - we hug our children, we kiss our partners goodbye, we go to work, we go to school.. whatever it is that we do, we do it, over and over and over again without stopping to actually take in the finer details that we are so blessed to have in our lives.

Don't get me wrong, I am not sitting here writing out the meaning to life and telling you not to have days where laying in bed seems to be the only viable option, I am just asking that you look at the world and people around you and really NOTICE it/them. Start by taking a good look in the mirror and instead of thinking about how much you hate *insert anything here* find something that looks AH MAY ZING today & smile. You are gorgeous (even if you don't think so!), you are clever (irrespective of your level of education or your intelligence), you are YOU! (and no one can ever compare to that!)

Today, I looked in the mirror and I saw - me - & I was thankful! What did you see?!

Pssstttt... I have something to tell you

Hey there! I figured it was about time that I actually sat down and introduced myself to those of you lovely people who have taken the time to stick around and like my page. So if you love a good read or even are just nosy and want to hear all about the person behind Sew Adorable Australia this is definitely the post for you.

So…..Who am I?

My name is Rachael & I am a mummy to two adorably gorgeous girls, Ella (7 years)  & Anika (almost 5 months!)- still contemplating whether or not to go back for round 3 or not!

I am married (celebrated 10 years of blissful (HA) marriage this year, WOOT go us!) to a great guy who is supportive of my crazy ideas and is an AMAZING Daddy! He is one of those guys that would happily run around a shopping centre with a cape on just because it would make his daughter's happy (well at least that is what he SAYS he is doing it for- in reality I know it is because he will always be a big kid himself)!

What do I love?!

Anything & Everything creative I have dabbled in for at least a little while. My house is filled with so many crazy creative ideas and half finished ‘creations’! Everything from scrapbooking to cake decorating (yes they are boobie cupcakes haha) has taken place here at one point or another!

I love long walks on the beach, sunsets.... EKKK nope.. not me at all! I love spending time doing actually doing things, if I am not busy, I am bored! It drives my family absolutely CRAZY but I love to keep busy and always have a million things going on at once! I love a good Moscato, Italian food & CHEESECAKE! ( My mum makes the best one I have ever tasted!)

Where did Sew Adorable come from?

The honest truth? I started sewing and putting up pictures on my personal Facebook page and was urged by friends to start selling them and then.. my little business was created. I have been to university, have multiple degrees (am a qualified teacher, youth worker & almost lawyer) but yet my heart lies in creating things that are unique, adorable and put a smile on people's faces! If you are still reading and I haven't bored you yet I'd love to take this opportunity to thank those of you who have supported me so far and are continuing to help me make my little pipe dream a reality! Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that the items I would be making could attract so much attention in such a small amount of time. I can only hope that over the coming months and years my business continues to create products that appeal to you all and provide me with a means to be a work at home mum who gets the best of both worlds (working and being home with my baby).
Where to from here?

Over the coming months your eyes will salivate (wait, that is not even possible) ...your eyes will be delighted with the new products that I will be offering. New bag designs, completely new products & face to face markets being the focal point at the moment. I hope you stick around and enjoy the ride with me.
